Investment Criteria

We support companies with a strong vision for improving health and well-being or for improving the efficiency of healthcare delivery. Whether your idea is for a product or service, it needs to be innovative to interest us.

Overview

Humana Ventures seeks to make strategic investments in vanguard companies with innovative healthcare products and services that meet the following parameters:

  • Your preferred initial investment is $1 to $5 million
  • You have a seasoned management team
  • You have active board participation
  • You’re generating revenue with a proven product or service – with paying customers or market validation
  • You have a strategic relationship with Humana
  • Your potential for return on investment targets are commensurate with assumed risks

In most cases, the potential for Humana to use, or help distribute your company’s product or service, drives our interest.

If we think there’s potential for a partnership, we'll hold discussions with Humana’s operations management. If interest persists, we’ll develop an operating agreement in a parallel path to the development of investment terms.

To get started, we ask you to supply the following:

  • Executive summary describing compelling facts of your company
  • Description of your management team, highlighting past accomplishments
  • Description of problem you intend to solve
  • Market size estimates
  • Product or service demonstration
  • Description of technology
  • Marketing plan – or if you haven’t yet launched – a description of your plan to acquire users or customers
  • Description of your sales cycle and process
  • A market analysis describing why customers use your product instead of the competition’s product and describing competitive advantages
  • A detailed financial model or current status and milestones for the next three to five years for product, team, marketing, and sales
  • Financing history – including dates, amounts, and sources of funds
  • Description of current financing needs – e.g., how much money is being raised and what it will be used for?
